There are 2 options for the bivouacs available upon your arrival to M'hamid. A permanent camp is kept about 10 km outside of town in a line of low dunes. It's a nice way to get acclimated to the experience of the Sahara, but the low dunes are the ones that move fastest, so sandstorms can get pretty rough there. The other option is the Hamada du Drâa. An established camp ground with full amenities, where you can "camp in comfort."

On the next night when you're in the Erg Zhigaga we maintain one camp. Nomad tents sheltered from the wind and sand, even a bathroom, all at the foot of 300'+ dunes reaching as far as the eye can see.
