The Rug Guarantee

The stories about rug buying in Morocco are famous and infamous with shoppers getting rolled more than the rugs. The only way to protect yourself is to use only reputable dealers, ask that the rug be wrapped in front of you, and carry it home with you on the plane ride home. Most common crimes involving rug shopping include:

• falsifying credit-card vouchers

• shipping inferior rugs as a substitute for the rugs purchased by the traveler.

But how do you know that the dealer is reputable? What about lugging that rug around with you for the rest of the tour? After years of working in Morocco, we've found a truly reputable dealer in Fez, the Dar Zaouia. We're so confident in them that we've created the first and only "Rug Guarantee." Even though we know and trust the Dar Zaouia, you don't have to take our word for it, so we've worked out an arrangement with the them to prevent the two problems above from happening and help you feel confident in your purchase.

Pay in the USA:

Avoid paying foreign transaction fees on your credit card by having your payment processed in the US, just ask the Dar Zaouia to have SaharaTrek process the transaction.

What you buy is what you get:

If you buy a rug(s) at that shop and have them shipped by the dealer (via DHL insured or other global shipper), then SaharaTrek will guarantee that the rugs you receive are the rugs you purchased. If the rugs you received aren't what you purchased, then just send the rugs to SaharaTrek in the US (we like rugs) and on behalf of the dealer we'll refund the purchase price (excluding shipping).

What isn't covered:

• Any damage or loss of the rugs due to shipping, customs/government are not covered by the Rug Guarantee.

• Shipping costs either from Morocco to the US or from you to SaharaTrek in the US are not covered.

• All sales are final, you can't get a refund just because you changed your mind, these are works of art, not toasters.
