Day 1: Merzouga & the Sahara
The adventure starts when we pick you up at your
accommodations in Fez.
From Fez, the route
runs south and starts to ascend into the
mountains with its cooler weather and green forests of cedar and pine.
Keep your eyes open, you might even spot a roaming troop of Barbary
Apes lounging in the forests just off the road.
As the route goes south and descends the mountains, the green starts to give way to the rock strewn, dry landscape of the Sahara. You'll travel through the Ziz Valley with its gorges and palm lined villages along the way. The drive ends outside of Erfoud at the Erg Chebbi were you'll spend the night in a desert camp.
